~ Arranging for the Irish/Lever Harp

In this workshop get an insider’s eye on creating harp parts, including the ideal keys, chord structure, various arrangements and special effects possible. We will begin with a brief introduction to the instrument itself, how it is played, and key components to keep in mind when composing/arranging for the harp. Learn what kinds of instrumentation complement the harp, and how the harp can enhance your songs/instrumentals. Open to harpists, non-harpists, musicians and composers ~ no instrument required to participate. Limit: 10. 1 hr. $25. Musical Note: Space is *extremely* limited. Don’t wait until you’re on the waiting list! Register now: http://www.theskillery.com/classes/arranging-for-the-irish-lever-harp

~ Accompanying O’Carolan in the 21st c.

Since the music of Turlough O’Carolan was created, played and taught aurally, it can be difficult to know how to create a left-hand accompaniment for his compositions. Learn some simple tricks for the left-hand that you can then easily apply to most of his music, seamlessly bridging his melodies with present-day arrangements. We will learn by ear, with handouts at the end of class. A recording device is welcome. Limit: 3. 1 1⁄2 hrs. $50. Musical Note: Space is *extremely* limited. Don’t wait until you’re on the waiting list! Register now: Aislinn@aislinnmusic.com

~ Getting Jiggy with the Irish Harp

While it’s easy enough to learn an Irish dance tune by ear or even with sheet music, it can feel like there’s “something missing.” Learn how to add the lilt, lift and swing to a simple jig that gets feet tapping. We will learn by ear, with handouts at the end of class. A recording device is welcome. Limit: 3 1 1⁄2 hrs. $50. Musical Note: Space is *extremely* limited. Don’t wait until you’re on the waiting list! Register now: Aislinn@aislinnmusic.com

Please Note ~ Harpists: Sign-up for Accompanying O’Carolan & Getting Jiggy & save! $50 each or $85 for both workshops, back-to-back.
